Keith Beck

Keith has over 30 years of experience in facilities engineering, design, and construction and has 25 years of experience in facilities management with the State of Wisconsin. Keith holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Milwaukee School of Engineering and is a licensed professional engineer in Wisconsin. Keith is a member of the Building Smart Alliance representing the state and local government sector.

Keith is the State of Wisconsin’s BIM-FM Handover champion. He was responsible for the development of the State’s FM Handover Research and Findings Report. This study documented the State’s current facility information handover practices; researched the best-practices of architectural and construction firms; provided an overview of industry technology trends and directions and recommended the next steps be data exchange pilot projects. Keith is now in process of implementing these pilot projects working with various BIM platforms and data exchange methods as well as numerous facilities management CMMS systems.

Martin Fischer

Martin Fischer is Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Stanford University. He also serves as the Director of the Center for Integrated Facility Engineering (CIFE). CIFE is the world-leading, industry-sponsored, academic research centre on virtual design and construction. Dr Fischer is known globally for his work and leadership in developing virtual 4D modelling (time plus 3D) methods to improve project planning, enhance facility life-cycle performance, increase the productivity of project teams, and further the sustainability of the built environment. His research results have been used by many small and large industrial and government organisations around the world. He has lived and worked in Europe, South America, North America and Asia. Dr Fischer holds a PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering and a MS in Industrial Engineering from Stanford University, and a Diploma in Civil Engineering from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne, Switzerland.

Charles Matta

Charles Matta is CIO at GSA's Public Building Service (PBS). Matta previously headed the PBS Center for Federal Buildings & Modernizations (2005-2009) where he oversaw a program of 120+ buildings nationwide, in various stages of planning, design and construction. He advised the PBS leadership on Federal architecture, design and construction innovation. He has represented PBS on Design Excellence Peer Reviews and has served as the agency’s lead or co-lead on key initiatives including Building Commissioning, Continuing Education, and Building Information Modeling (BIM), garnering numerous federal and corporate awards, including the CoreNet Global Innovator's Award and the GSA Achievement Award for Real Property Innovation.

Before joining GSA, Charles established ‘Matta Architects’ (1994- 2002), a Virginia based firm with a diversified practice in municipal, recreational, and residential projects. His work was published in the Washington Post, Washington Times, House and Garden, Inform, Builder, and Remodeling magazines. Charles is the recipient of several design industry awards including AIA Award for Excellence in Architecture for an embassy project in Washington.

Charles holds a Master of Architecture degree and is licensed in VA, MD and DC, and certified by NCARB. He is a former President of AIA Northern Virginia and a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects.
